At Hearts and Hammers, we’re committed to making a meaningful impact in every community we serve. By supporting organizations that address the specific needs of each area, we aim to leave a lasting, positive impact beyond the work we do on the roof.

Storm & Insurance Claim Expertise
When storms damage your home or commercial property, Hearts & Hammers helps you move forward with confidence. Whether you have a shingle roof, metal roof, or flat TPO roof, our experienced team understands what to look for and what a proper restoration requires.
Before You File
We inspect your roof, document the damage, and explain the recommended repairs or replacement. When coverage questions arise, we coordinate with the appropriate licensed claim professionals so you can make an informed decision.
Throughout Your Claim
We provide detailed photographs, inspection findings, and roofing estimates that account for the necessary materials, labor, and installation requirements. Working with your insurance company’s representatives and your claim professionals, we help:
From Construction to Completion
We manage the roofing work, keep you informed, and plan around your family, tenants, or business operations. Our involvement continues through quality checks, final documentation, and project closeout.
See the Process in Action
Explore real residential and commercial projects below, following our inspection and insurance claim support process from start to finish. See how detailed damage documentation, insurance inspection coordination, and careful construction come together to restore each property.
1 — Inspect & Document
We inspect your roof, photograph its condition, and gather supporting weather data to document damage consistent with the reported storm.
2 — Evaluate Before Filing
We help you decide whether a claim makes sense based on documented storm damage, a storm date supported by weather data, and estimated out-of-pocket costs. We also recommend having licensed insurance professionals confirm your roof coverage, deductible, and whether replacement-cost benefits apply or payment is limited.
3 — Coordinate the Insurance Inspection
We meet with the insurance company’s representative on-site to review documented damage, explain the necessary roofing work, and provide supporting photographs and estimates.
4 — Restore & Complete
Once the roofing scope, pricing, and authorization are in place, we complete the agreed repairs or replacement with careful project management, quality checks, and clear communication. We finish with a final walkthrough, project documentation, and applicable warranties.
We use chalk to highlight hail dents so their size and distribution are easier to photograph. We also inspect for water-retaining depressions, damaged seams, and compromised protective coatings. Many steel roofs rely on zinc or aluminum-zinc coatings to resist rust. Coating damage and persistent moisture can increase corrosion risk, so we evaluate these conditions individually rather than assuming every dent will rust.
We inspect for hail impacts, loosened or missing granules, and cracks or tears in the shingle mat. Granules protect the underlying asphalt from the sun’s ultraviolet rays. Significant hail-related granule loss can expose that asphalt, accelerating deterioration over time. Even without a visible hole or immediate leak, impact damage can shorten the roof’s service life.
The video shows a PVC roof inspection. Hail can puncture or fracture single-ply membranes and damage the insulation beneath them, including polyiso (ISO) board. We inspect surface impacts and look for signs that further evaluation beneath the membrane is needed. Documenting both layers helps establish the necessary repair scope for insurance review, with coverage determined by the policy.
Hail can crack or split cedar shakes, potentially compromising their ability to shed water. We inspect for impact marks and associated fractures, photograph affected areas, and distinguish storm damage from natural weathering. This helps establish the extent of damage and the appropriate repairs or replacement.
We use chalk to highlight hail dents and inspect metal panels for coating damage, affected seams, and drainage concerns. We document our findings, prepare roofing estimates, and meet with the insurer’s representative to explain the necessary work. Once the scope and authorization are in place, we complete the repairs or replacement. Coverage depends on your policy.

We inspect each shingle slope for hail bruising, fractures, and granule loss, then document the damage and check nearby vents and gutters for matching impact marks. We meet with the insurer, present our findings, explain the necessary roofing work, and answer questions about our estimate. If approved, we complete the roof work; coverage depends on your policy.

We inspect modified bitumen, TPO, and PVC roofs for hail impacts, fractures, punctures, and potential insulation damage. On modified bitumen roofs like the example below, we also check for granule loss. We document the damage, check nearby metal components for supporting impact marks, and meet with the insurer to present our findings and explain the necessary roofing work. If approved, we complete the repairs or replacement; coverage depends on your policy.
